Man have I been busy these last few weeks. I have wanted to get part two out to you ASAP, but have been pressed for time. So rather than rush to post this, I wanted to wait until I had the time to sit down and write this post in detail. I’m coming to you straight from my heart with this post. There will be no links to click or courses to buy. Just the simple truth of what I did to get off the treadmill. If you take to heart and apply what you are about to read, you will see results. You may not go about things exactly as I have, as you and your business are different from me and mine. However there are certain underlying principles that are universal and apply to us all. If you haven’t read part one yet I recommend that you do that now, before reading this post. With that said let’s dive in…
Once you have buckled down and started following your guru – I found this to be the hard part – the work starts. I found this to be hard at first because my guru would say something or demonstrate how he was making money online, I’d try the same thing and would fall flat on my face! Seemingly over and over again. One thing that made it easier for me is having a supportive spouse. You may not be so lucky, none the less you have to find the discipline within yourself to stick with it and make it work.
I’ve found discipline or the lack thereof I should say to have been one of the biggest stumbling blocks in my business. I was a very focused person, but I lacked the discipline to keep that laser focus on one thing until it was mastered. As a result I spent over a year spinning my wheels. My hope is that by reading this post you won’t have to go through the same mess I did. If you can afford a coach I highly
recommend that you get one! I have seen the biggest gains in the shortest periods of time by working with a coach. Magic seems to take place when you have a coach guiding you.
You may not be able to afford a coach at this time. I know that for quite some time I was in the same boat. If you have the cash to hire a coach, contact your guru and find out if they would be willing to coach you. If you feel that you can’t afford a coach keep reading to learn what I did to overcome the lack of cash. You will be able to use these strategies to get a coach. First off identify who you want to coach you, then start to get to know them. Most likely if you are in love with this gurus teachings like I was with my guru, you may be interacting with them anyway. Maybe via email, or by commenting on their blog regularly, twitter etc…
Keep interacting with your guru, you need to start building a relationship with them. Also by consistently interacting with your guru it shows a level of commitment and seriousness. Most people want success about as much as you do – but they are not willing to make it happen. They will not become disciplined, nor will they consciously focus on much more than making sure they keep their job. However you are willing to make it happen, I can safely say that much without knowing anything about you simply because you have spent your time reading this far. Most people stopped reading a few paragraphs ago once they realized that there was nothing free here nor any rah-rah make you feel good about your lazy self type wording
Contact your guru and ask for help. Ask for coaching, if the price is outside of your range say so, and pose a alternative deal. Like maybe instead of 497 a month for six months, how about if I pay 200 a month and write 10 500 word articles a week and submit for you etc. I don’t know your skill set, but you have something to offer – even if you think you don’t. You do I promise. I used to think that I didn’t have anything to offer to anyone, what a load of rubbish. We all have something to offer that will be of value to someone else. So in my case I would never offer to write 10 articles a week for someone because I hate to do lots of writing! Matter of fact my dislike for writing is why I don’t post more often to this blog, lol. However this is where discipline comes in, which is why I make myself sit down and write these posts. I worked for my first guru for a year free of charge in exchange for coaching. I still had a full time job mind you. And was busting my tail providing a lot of free labor in my spare time. However the insights I gained by having a coach were in valuable to me. (at the same time I was providing free labor – I was getting free coaching which is really awesome, my guru was giving of his time. So don’t take that last statement to be me bitching, cuz I ain’t
I would not be where I am in my business today were it not for my coaches…
At this point I have had more than one coach. But I started with one you should start with one, then get another as you need etc. For me my first coach taught me how to make money online plain and simple so that I could quit my job. The coach I have today is teaching me how to create a 7 figure business. My coach has several 7 figure businesses both on and offline. I wasn’t ready for the level of coaching I am receiving today 3 years ago, when I first started looking for a coach/mentor. So know that you will have many coaches and mentors throughout your business life. I plan to have coaches and mentors for the rest of my life. I actually want to get to the point where I have a coach/mentor for every major area of my life.
I have a spiritual coach(I call him my pastor), and a business coach. However think about all the other areas of your life where you could excel with proper guidance. Without the guidance of a coach you have learn from trial and error which is the slow and painful route. I’ve done it before – Trust me you don’t want to go that route! Ok I think you get the point you need a coach – I’m not available for hire. I didn’t write this post to attempt to get more coaching clients or anything like that if the thought crossed your mind. I’m just telling you the simple truth of what I did to get off the tread mill.
So on to other things that I found to be quite helpful…
Mastermind groups… In my option master mind groups are right up there with coaching. Coaching would come first though then master mind groups if I had to list them. If you have the opportunity to form or join a high level master mind group do so! It is amazing what you learn from your peers as well as how quickly you can move forward when you have others to bounce your ideas off of. X number of minds are better than one. When you are in a mastermind group you can avoid common pitfalls by learning from the experiences of the others in the group. You may even be so lucky as to find a partner for a lucrative project in a master mind group. Which leads to my next thought…
Get out there are start meeting other marketers, go to offline events. If you can’t afford to go to a offline event right now that is ok. I didn’t start out having the cash to travel to offline events myself. But many IM forums are free to join, so I’d recommend that you start meeting people in the forums. However be careful to minimize the amount of time you spend in any forum. I’d say no more than 30 minutes a day. Forums can suck a lot of your time, if you aren’t careful you’ll look back and see that 4 hours flew by and all you have to show for it is a few witty posts that you made, or a bunch of great marketing ideas you gleaned as you read post after post. Either way that isn’t good. So no more than 30 minutes a day…
Wow, yet again this post is turning out longer than expected. I may have to push out part three. What do you think? For now I’m gona wrap it up here!
