STAY IN THE CLIMB!

Yesterday I was
hiking a mountain in Hawaii with a friend. I was laboring up this
beautiful green pastured mountain, looking down at my feet trying to be
sure of my footing, while at the same time trying to catch my breath from
the altitude. At times, I would make big steps, sometimes all I could do
was take small ones. The terrain was uneven and rough at times. It took
a lot of effort and a lot of thought so, needless to say, I was getting
really tired and at times wanted to stop or just turn back.
I got to one peak and I thought “I’m here, great, we can rest now” only to
realize that just because I was at the top of one peak, that didn’t mean I
had arrived. There were more…more valleys to go through and more heights
to reach. It was interesting to me, that in order to go higher, we
usually had to go down through a valley, and it went on and on and up and
up. I was tired and wanted to sit down but my friend said, “Come on,
let’s go a little higher.” So, not to be outdone by a girl (lol), I dug
my hiking boots in and went a little higher. We finally got to one of the
highest points and she said to me, “This is the best part, now turn
around.” I turned around and behind me was the most amazing view that I
had seen in my 40 years on this earth. As far as my eyes could see,
beauty reigned. The Hawaiian Islands seemed to be leaping up out of the
silver blue sea, stretching up to catch the dust of the sky. The clouds
seemed close enough to catch in my hand and make a wish; rays of sunlight
danced through them trying to find a path to show off their own glow and
power. Not even Picasso could have out-painted the canvas that was before
me. The heavens were declaring the glory of God. I saw Him in motion.
I said to my friend, “When did we get this high?”, and she said, “It was
in the climb.” I couldn’t help but think about life – mine and maybe even
yours. I thought about how hard it had been for me chasing down my dream.
I thought about how hard it can be to believe sometimes. I thought about
the entire struggle, all of the pain, all of the hope, all of the doubt.
I thought about the times I was working a dead end job, trying to believe;
moving through day-to-day with my head down just taking one step at a
time, some small, some big ones, wanting to give up; wanting to stop and
sit for a while; wanting to lay in my sorrow; nobody believing in me;
nobody thinking it would come to pass and never realizing that every step
was taking me closer to higher. That hike was painful, it hurt, but
through it all I was getting higher and had no idea how high I was.
That’s what it’s like to chase down a dream.
Sometimes in life dreams are hard to follow, like that climb. You don’t
know how high you’re going or even if you’re moving, but every step, even
when you can’t see what’s behind you, will take you closer to your goals.
It’s in the climb. I know you may be struggling right now, but you’re in
the climb; things may be hard right now, but you’re in the climb; people
may not believe in you, but it’s part of the climb. They may take shots
at you, but stay in the climb; you may have to stand alone, but you’re in
the climb. Even if you’re not where you want to be right now, I want to
say to you what she said to me, “This is the best part, now turn around.”
Look how far you’ve come. God has not brought you this far to leave you.
Stay in the climb.

You know I hear from near everybody about how exclusive and secret what they have to share is – then you get there and it’s the same ‘ol crap packaged up in a new way. Not this time! This was nothing but meat from the beginning through to the end. Two days of solid ground breaking content – never to be repeated again (Steve says that was his first and LAST live event – took to much work to put on.) Anyways with that said I won’t be revealing here what I learned or what was discussed – I along with 99 others paid THOUSANDS of dollars to get our ticket and pay our travel expenses. So to post it here would be trifling…. “down right trifling” as my dad would say, lol…
Instead I will be sharing with you some personal insights that I learned. You’ll also learn about a very humbling experience I had while sitting at the Aurora bar mingling.

Insights:
There are no secrets, nothing mystical, or magical about making massive amounts of profit online. It’s all pretty straight forward. I really expected to learn some real ninja voodoo stuff, however I was quite surprised and amazed to be presented with a logical well laid out blue print that virtually guarantees everyone who applies it a profitable business online. More than anything I learned a new way to think about business and IM. Seriously. Mentally I have moved to another level – no, I moved up like 10 levels in my thinking and mental processes. This is one of the side effects of getting around high level people, if you stay around them usually one of two things happen 1) you start moving up to where they are, or 2) you shy away as you don’t relate or feel intimated. Thankfully the former happened to me…
Typically IM is a solo game for most – at least in the beginning. No one understand what the hell you are trying to do, spouse’s wonder why you keep buying all these products or think you are getting scammed. You have a vision, and are doing what you have to do to make it reality. However it can get depressing almost at times working like that for months on end. Offline events place you face to face with other people, other marketers just like you. They understand what you do! They understand what you go though! It is so refreshing to get round like minded people – nothing compares to it. Yeah I know we have forums, email, phone, Skype etc… However nothing beats mingling in a private environment with your fellow marketers. nothing.
My Humbling Experience:
One of my Optin Ease customers drove 4.5 hours to come meet me in person. Jim Ryder purchased his copy of Optin Ease less than a month ago. In that time he has emailed and called my office several times. This guy is on fire and is rapidly building his business. Anyways when he found out I was going to be in Vegas he drove from Ca to meet me! I was quite humbled. You never really realize how much what you do impacts others. I have customers call or email all the time, on a daily basis and I love it! However I knew Jim was VERY impressed with me to drive all that way to spend an hour with me – that is all the time I had to spare. I was deeply moved and humbled. I’ve been thinking lately of doing public case studies of IM/Make Money Products. What I am thinking of doing is buying the product, consuming the material, then putting it to use. I’ll simply document my finding and results after using the system. The pro’s of this are if I think it is great you’ll know that, con’s are if it’s crap or doesn’t work you’ll know that to. I’ll obviously only be able to speak from MY perspective. So it won’t be the be all – end all for a product just because it worked or didn’t work for me.
You’ll be getting an unbiased, third party opinion of the product. I’ll be giving you my thoughts on the content delivery system. The ease of understanding. The quality of the customer support for the product. Most importantly, you’ll get my results – good or bad. I’ll let you know if I think the product is good for newbies, or if it’s only for people with a little experience under their belt. You’ll find out if I lost money buying the product or if I made money with it, and you’ll get the exact amount I made.

WARNING: This post was written after a LONG day. I was quite tired, but want to to get these thoughts out to you. So bear with me here, I think you’ll get my point after reading. Then again, maybe not.
STOP trying to come up with innovative ground breaking fresh content.
Sounds crazy I know, few marketers are going to give you this advise. I wasted what seems like years trying to create new unique content. There is nothing new under the sun. Or so the saying goes. If you are in the internet marketing niche you may feel like you are at a loss when it comes to producing content for this space. There’s most likely nothing that you could cover that hasn’t already been covered in some form or fashion by someone else… right?
Wrong. Sorta..
Yes it’s true that someone else may have covered the topic before, but you will bring a new perspective to the topic. Put your spin on it and roll your product or service out. No one (not even a GURU) can capture 100% of a market or given topic. There is room for you to make money in the same space as the guru who may seem to have captured the market…
The guru fully grasp what I just explained – now you need to follow in their steps and make it happen. At the time I’m writing this post Frank Kern is preparing to launch a list building course called List Control. Do you know how many list building courses exist in this market? Hundreds! Yet Frank has created a course on list building and is rolling it out despite the fact that there are already hundreds or courses all ready in existence that cover list building. However what all thoese other courses lack is frank perspective on the topic.
The same is true for your product. Put your views, your personality into it. That will make it different from all the other courses that teach the same material as your course. If you really want to make your course stand out that you need to create you own system. Come up with a cool name, for instance if you had a course about press releases you could have the Fusion P.R.E.S.S. System – What’s the Fussion press system? I have no idea it just sounds cool. However now your product is set aside from every other product that teaches press releases. You’ll be the only person with the “Fusion P.R.E.S.S. System” – people will buy your course just because they’ll want to know what the FPS is, they’ll think you’re product is better than the others because you have a proprietary system that no one else has. Guru’s use this strategy all the time, I recommend that you give each section of your course a cool name…
Now that I have made you aware of this sneaky naming game, you’ll start to notice it in use in products everywhere You may be thinking that you don’t really care about this because you are focused on affiliate marketing – not product creation. That is cool if that is your thing. However I’d encourage you to think about creating your own products, then work on making your sales page convert as many people as possible. There are more affiliates out there than anything else. As a industry we are teaching thousands of people how to become super affiliates, which is great – if you are a product owner…
Affiliate Marketer Vs. Product Creator/Owner
Think about it like this: As a super affilite you might be able to spend$500 a day in traffic and bank $1,000 in commissions. Not bad at all right, you spent $500 made $1,000 for a net profit of $500 a 100% return on investment! Mr. Super Affiliate is doing that every day like clock work, it may have taken him a few weeks to tweak his PPC campaigns and drill down to the right mix of keywords but he’s cracked the code…
The product owner on the other had is making $1,000 every single day 100% pure profit, and did nothing other than create a product, and tweak his sales page until it was converting as high as possible. If the super affiliate is making $1,000 a day in commission we’ll figure he’s getting a 50% commission rate. So the product owner is making $1,000 a day from this ONE affiliate – imagine if he had hundreds of affiliated promoting his product. At the end of the day this is where serious money is made online. Of course everyone (especially the product owners) are going to tout the pro’s of being a affiliate marketer to you, and there is a great upside to being an affiliate. However when you want to take your business to the next level you need to start focusing on controlling or owning the content or services that are being consumed by the market place. The easiest way to control the content is to be the one creating it!
